An atmospheric painted scene of a rural landscape, presumably executed in the 1880s–1890s by the distinguished Russian artist Julius von Klever. The composition is built on the contrast between the warm evening light and the dense mass of haycocks scattered across the field. A flock of birds rises above the horizon, adding gentle movement and symbolic depth to the scene.The subtle use of color, sensitivity to atmospheric light, and generalized plasticity of form place the work within the circle of Klevers oeuvre and suggest a likely attribution to the early period of his artistic career. The painting is set in its original late 19th-century gilt frame with ornamental carving.Artist’s signature: J. Клеверъ, lower right.Dimensions: Canvas without frame: 40 × 30 cm. With frame: 50 × 42 × 7 cm.Condition: Excellent. The canvas surface is stable, varnish with even patina. Original frame with minor signs of age.Provenance: Private collection, Western Europe.

Half-length, ceremonial portrait of the Russian Emperor Alexander I (1777-1825) in full face. In the alcove, near the column and the red curtain, the king is depicted in military uniform, with a sash and epaulettes, with his hand on the book of laws. His gaze is anxious and concerned about the fate of Russia. It is noteworthy that the laws for him are above autocracy. The book closes the crown. This can be interpreted as the constitutional program of the king. Without a signature. The pommel of the imperial crown indicates the presence of the painting. Oil, canvas. 90×72 cm.

This painting is exceptional in both technique and execution, and pays tribute to one of the great masters of the Dutch Golden Age, Willmen Kalf (1619-1993).The artist Sie G, usually known for his contemporary works in the style of hyperrealism, was inspired by the Dutch painters 1660 Still Life with Aquamanile, Fruit and Nautilus Cup (see last photo).His technical skill in this genre painting is breathtakingly precise, from the cracks in the enamel and the reflections on the porcelain, the ridged, pearly surface of the nautilus conch shell, the folds and texture of the Persian carpet, to the bloom on the black grape cluster, the peeled rind of the lemon and the shiny seeds of the pomegranate; everything is there to remind us of the fragility of the elements.Sie G has also added depth to this work, using a dark background against which a half-lit cassolette stands out in the background, and making use of the light coming from the left to reflect on the elements of this composition.This painting is a true technical feat and a demonstration of the virtuosity of painter Sie G, a trained restorer who has worked with the most prestigious European museums and knows how to handle the old skills of the great masters.
