Intriguing porcelain layer. Hortense RICHARD (1847-1900). Caster. By James Bertrand. With a certain irony, he paints a musical duet or a contest between Euterpe and a nightingale. The patroness of music, sitting naked, struggles to match the night singer. Although their efforts are multi-directional, a rather graceful, albeit contradictory duet is emerging. The elongated vertical format and color scheme subtly stylize the ancient designs of Rome. Signature of the author at the bottom right.
