The lyrical landscape In the Park, executed by Anna Petrovna Ostroumova-Lebedeva circa 1900, belongs to the early period of her independent artistic development, when the artist signed her works as “A. Ostroumova”. This intimate watercolor reveals the master’s refined sense of spatial construction and the rhythmic organization of natural forms.The composition unfolds through a sequence of horizontal planes: the calm surface of a pond in the foreground, gently modelled lawns and a group of dark fir trees at the centre, beyond which emerges the golden-ochre foliage of an autumn park. The sky is rendered with broad transparent washes of blue and greyish tones, creating a sensation of humid air and atmospheric depth. The palette demonstrates a subtle harmony of greens, ochres and blues characteristic of the St Petersburg graphic school of the early 20th century.The work reflects the influence of European Art Nouveau and the pictorial explorations of the fin de siècle, as well as the artist’s academic training under Vasily Maté, Ilya Repin and Pavel Chistyakov. A vibrant and ironic work by the contemporary German multimedia artist Felix von Altersheim, executed in the aesthetic of Neo-Pop Art. The composition is centered around the iconic figure of Scrooge McDuck, rendered in an expressive manner infused with elements of street art and graffiti culture. The character is surrounded by a multilayered collage of dollar banknotes, neon $ symbols, splashes of paint and fragments of mass media imagery, forming a dynamic visual field in which the symbolism of wealth and consumerism transforms into a bold artistic manifesto.The contrast of intense acid tones - pink, lime green, yellow and electric blue - enhances the decorative power of the composition. The use of Dagobert Duck as an allegory of financial obsession and the cult of capitalism lends the work the character of a contemporary social commentary.The technique consists of a 12-color print on acrylic glass, providing remarkable depth of color and a luminous, high-gloss surface effect. An exquisite Russian silver vase with a cut crystal bowl, produced at the factory of Ivan Khlebnikov in Moscow during the period 1908 - 1917. The composition is conceived through the contrast between the matte patinated surface of the silver and the luminous brilliance of the faceted crystal insert.The crystal bowl is distinguished by an intricate geometric cut with fan-shaped and diamond motifs, creating a refined play of light. The upper rim is decorated with a rhythmic frieze of radiating fans, enhancing the plasticity of the silhouette. The base of the bowl is adorned with a sunburst rosette.The silver mount is executed in a Neoclassical spirit. The body is encircled by an ornamental band of oval medallions and garlands, enriched with fine granulation and chasing. The interior of the mount is gilded. Two substantial handles are conceived as architectural elements with crossed torches and floral rosettes. Four shaped feet with foliate decoration lend stability and ceremonial presence to the piece.The work exemplifies the characteristic combination of monumental form and jeweller’s precision typical of the Moscow school at the beginning of the 20th century.Marks: Maker’s mark “KHLEBNIKOV”; Small mark “ИХ”; Moscow Assay Office mark 1908 - 1917 depicting a female head turned to the right, with the standard “84” and a letter in an oval; Additional circular mark with a female head turned to the right.Dimensions: Height: 12 cm; Width: 32 cm; Depth: 13 cm.Weight: 1275 g.Condition: Good.
