An expressive silver cabinet figure of a clown created by the Italian workshop Ancini in the second half of the 20th century. The sculpture depicts a comic character dressed in a typical circus costume with shortened trousers, a loose jacket and a large decorative bow tie. The plastic composition captures a moment of theatrical gesture: the figure leans slightly forward with arms spread apart, while the face conveys an exaggerated comic expression, lending the composition a sense of movement and emphasizing the theatrical nature of the image.The figure is distinguished by the carefully modeled costume and the expressive treatment of the face. The silver surface is highly polished, producing a characteristic play of reflections that accentuates the sculptural structure of the drapery. The decorative appeal of the composition is enhanced by colored enamels on silver: a bright red nose, polychrome inserts on the bow tie and buttons, as well as contrasting shoelaces, reinforcing the theatrical character of the figure and giving it a vivid stage-like individuality.The composition is notable for the unity of its silhouette and its well-balanced proportions. A rare Russian silver trompe-l’œil casket of rectangular form, virtuously imitating bast weaving. The body is conceived as a tightly plaited basket, its textured “wicker” surface rendered with exceptional precision through refined chasing and engraving. The casket is raised on four low shaped feet, lending the composition architectural clarity and stability.The hinged lid with softly rounded corners is modelled as a draped textile with carefully executed fringe, creating the illusion of a cloth casually laid over the box. The interior is fully fire-gilt, with neatly finished seams and corners, underscoring the high technical standard and ceremonial character of the object. Such trompe-l’œil works rank among the most complex and prestigious creations of the Moscow silver school of the late 19th century and were intended for a highly discerning clientele.Marks: Maker’s mark “ГЛ” - Gerasim Loskutov; Moscow Assay Office mark with silver standard “84”; City mark of Moscow with St George the Victorious; Assay master’s mark “АА” above the date “1893” - Anatoly Apollonovich Artsibashev.Dimensions: 14.2 x 10.6 cm.Weight: 490 g.

An elegant Russian silver sweetmeat bowl raised on a high profiled foot and fitted with a movable arched handle, crafted in St Petersburg in 1887 by Erik August Kollin, one of the principal master craftsmen associated with the House of Carl Fabergé. The composition is distinguished by clarity of silhouette and restrained refinement, characteristic of the St Petersburg silver school of the late 19th century.The oval bowl, with a smoothly polished interior, is framed by a broad rim finely engraved with delicate burin work. The ornament is composed of symmetrical floral garlands and stylised vegetal motifs, enriched with geometric interlace elements reminiscent of Pan-Slavic decorative patterns. The edge is accentuated by a beaded border. The movable handle, adorned with spherical terminals and a central collar, lends the piece a ceremonial elegance while preserving its functional purpose.The object demonstrates a high standard of silver craftsmanship: precise engraving, carefully fitted handle joints and well-balanced proportions of foot and base attest to the work of an accomplished workshop connected with the Fabergé circle.Marks: Maker’s mark “EK” - Erik Kollin; St Petersburg assay mark dated “1887”; silver standard “84”; initials of the assay master “IE”; coat of arms of St Petersburg.Dimensions: Height - 23 cm; Diameter - 25.5 cm.Weight: 671 g.Condition: Good.
