GOLD SNUFF BOX WITH ENAMEL MINIATURE AND PEARLS FRANCE, CIRCA 1795

A refined small oval snuff box crafted in gold and decorated with a finely executed enamel miniature. The lid is centred with an oval medallion depicting a gallant genre scene characteristic of the late 18th century: a young couple bidding farewell on the shore to a departing vessel. The theme of separation and travel reflects the sentimental sensibility of the period, situated between Late Classicism and early Pre-Romanticism.The miniature is painted with great delicacy and framed by a border of natural pearls, lending a precious rhythm and enhancing the intimate, personal character of the object. The surrounding field is enriched with deep blue enamel adorned with subtle gold ornament in the form of stylised vegetal motifs. The body of the snuff box is smooth, with a warm golden sheen; the interior is carefully polished. The object is distinguished by harmonious proportions, high-quality craftsmanship, and the refined finish typical of French goldsmiths’ workshops of the late 18th century.Marks: Two pre-Revolutionary French marks on the base: a gold assay mark and a maker’s mark; the latter is partially worn and the letters “LP” may be tentatively discerned; without later standard Napoleonic marks.Dimensions: Length: 4.7 cm.Weight: 18 g.Condition: Good.Provenance: Private European collection; formerly Sotheby’s auction.

Round gold enamel powder box Violettes Paris circa 1860. On a noble, dark brown background with a golden net and antique grotesques, the lid depicts a preening nymph with a cupid adorning her hair. The vignette at the base depicts a flirtatious scene, apparently with the same cherub, dove and basket of flowers, again in pursuit of the escaping mistress. Labeled: Violettes Paris. On the inside of the rim there is a memorial date: April 18, 1880. Parisian gold hallmarks from 1838, corresponding to 750 standard, are on the bottom of the powder compact. Inside the lid there is an original mirror. Height: 3cm. length-5cm. Weight:73.94g

A Russian silver cylindrical shot cup crafted in 84 silver and richly decorated with polychrome cloisonné enamel. The exterior surface is entirely covered with an elaborate ornamental composition built on symmetrical floral and foliate motifs, incorporating stylized blossoms and scrolling elements characteristic of the Moscow silversmithing tradition of the late nineteenth century. The enamel palette features deep cobalt blue, turquoise, white and red tones, emphasized by the precise rhythm of silver cloisons. The interior surface is smooth, with a natural silver patina, creating a refined contrast with the vivid enamel decoration of the exterior.
