LADY’S NECESSAIRE IN BLOODSTONE AND GILT BRONZE. FRANCE, LOUIS XV PERIOD

An exquisite mid-18th century French lady’s nécessaire crafted from dark green bloodstone with fine red flecks, mounted in finely chased gilt bronze in the Rococo style of Louis XV. The faceted body is enriched with asymmetrical rocaille decoration, including allegorical motifs of a fox and a goat — symbols of cunning and innocence. The lid opens with a diamond-set push-button of old mine cut, ingeniously integrated into the side panel.Inside the case are six miniature grooming tools: a mother-of-pearl-handled knife, scissors, tweezers, ear pick, bodkin, and a needle. Each piece fits into its custom slot, testifying to the high craftsmanship and refined taste of its original owner.Marks: Not specified (to be confirmed upon inspection).Dimensions: Height approx. 9 cm.Weight: 95 g (with tools).Condition: Excellent, no visible restorations or losses. PAIR OF SCULPTURES “MOORISH PORTERS” FRANCE, 19TH CENTURY

An elegant pair of life-size figures executed in polychrome painted wood, representing a striking example of French decorative salon sculpture of the 19th century. The sculptures depict two Moors dressed in richly interpreted Oriental attire, with carefully rendered details of fabrics, headdresses and accessories.The figures are conceived in dynamic poses: one holds a tall staff topped with a spherical finial, while the other raises a chain with a pendant, lending the composition a ceremonial and stately character. The contrast between the dark polished surface and the vibrant polychromy of the garments enhances the decorative effect and emphasizes the theatrical quality of the imagery. Gilded accents on the footwear, belts and draperies create an impression of opulence consistent with the taste of the Historicism period.Such sculptures served as impressive interior accents in grand salons and entrance halls of mansions. In addition to their representational function, these figures were often used as incense burners or holders for accessories, acting as a decorative substitute for servants within the interior setting. The bases are formed as multi-faceted pedestals imitating marble, enriched with gilded moulded bands.Dimensions: Height approx. 150 cm; width approx. 100 cm each.Condition: Good. Polychromy and gilding with natural age-related wear. Minor traces of time on the bases. Structurally stable, without visible losses.Provenance: Private collection.

MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A LAPDOG GERMANY, MEISSEN, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

An expressive, one-piece porcelain figure of a lapdog, created at the Meissen manufactory in the second half of the 19th century. The small decorative dog is portrayed seated on its hind legs, with a tilted head, large protruding eyes, and richly modelled curls of fur. The coloration in white and reddish-brown tones accentuates the realistic texture and volume. The figure bears a sentimental and almost portrait-like character, designed to adorn the intimate interiors of bourgeois homes. This sculpture belongs to Meissens classical animal genre, inspired by the traditions of Johann Joachim Kändler.Marks: Blue crossed swords underglaze (Meissen), impressed model number 2880 on the base, moulding marks and kiln vent hole.Dimensions: 23 × 29 × 12 cmCondition: In good condition. No visible losses, with minor signs of age. Clear marks, preserved glaze.Provenance: From a private European collection. An original Meissen work, Germany, 19th century.
