The figure "Once in the cold winter season" Konakovo

Unique composition "Once, in the icy winter season" according to the work of the same name by N. Nekrasov. The author of "Tulenkova". Hallmarks: "Konakovo faience factory", Authors signature in the Tulenkov test. Konakovo faience factory is one of the oldest manufacturers of tableware, decorative vessels and sculptures in Russia. In the first quarter of the 19th century, the landowner in Kuznetsovo was transferred to a porcelain factory founded in 1809 by Frederick Christian Brinner in the village of Domkino. The plants products - empire faience dishes with printed patterns and hand-painted by famous masters - were in great demand both in Russia and abroad. N-25cm.

An elegant biscuit porcelain bust created by Charles Levy & Co in Charenton-le-Pont near Paris, representing a refined example of French decorative sculpture of the last quarter of the 19th century. The work unites the traditions of Neoclassicism and Salon Historicism with subtle elements of Naturalistic Romanticism characteristic of the Belle Époque aesthetic.The composition is conceived in a three-quarter turn, lending the figure pictorial depth and gentle dynamism. The young heroine lowers her gaze toward a flower placed along the neckline. An asymmetrical wreath of daisies, a loosely arranged braid falling over the shoulder, and delicately modeled drapery create a subtle dialogue between academic precision and a freer, almost Impressionistic interpretation of detail.The matte surface of the biscuit porcelain enhances its resemblance to marble sculpture and emphasizes the purity of the modeling. Soft transitions of volume and restrained emotional expression define the sculptural character. The bust rests on a molded base with a cylindrical pedestal, forming a balanced architectural silhouette.Marks: Underglaze blue mark in the form of a six-pointed star, characteristic of Charles Levy & Co, Charenton-le-Pont, circa 1876-1881.Dimensions: Height 47.5 cm.Condition: Good. An elegant Russian rectangular cigarette case with softly rounded corners, crafted in 14-karat gold at the St Petersburg gold and diamond workshop of Beilin & Son. The exterior is decorated with a refined geometric pattern executed in two-tone gold in the Art Nouveau style, realised through exceptionally fine chasing. The rhythmic diagonal lines create a dynamic play of light and underline the high level of surface workmanship characteristic of the finest pre-Revolutionary St Petersburg jewellery. The push-button clasp is set with a natural cabochon-cut sapphire, harmoniously integrated into the overall artistic composition. Distinguished by flawless proportions, precise fitting of components and a pronounced status character, the piece is representative of objects intended for courtly and aristocratic circles.Hallmarks: Maker’s mark “A.B” in a rectangular cartouche – Beilin & Son, Gold and Diamond Factory, St Petersburg; Oval assay mark with a female head facing left, gold standard “56” and assay letter “a”, corresponding to the St Petersburg assay office, 1908–1917.Dimensions: Length 9.8 cm; Width 6.5 cm.Weight: 129 g.Condition: Good.Provenance: Private European collection.
