Porcelain figure Boy with a goat. Allegory of autumn, harvesting. H-14.5 cm. The hallmark of the Meissen manufactory is a mark of German porcelain. The name comes from the Saxon city of Meissen, where porcelain was first produced in Europe. The first porcelain manufactory in Europe, Meissen, was founded in 1710, shortly after the alchemist Johann Friedrich Böttger (1682-1719) discovered the secret of making hard porcelain in Saxony in collaboration with the scientist Ehrenfried Walter von Chirnhaus (1651-1708)

Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lyon, Jean Thomas began exhibiting his works as early as 1946. Following in the footsteps of the great painters of modernity, his early paintings echo Thomass biggest influences, namely Fernand Léger and Matisse. Some articles published about him discuss the assertion of a true artistic personality, comparing him to his contemporaries: Bernard Buffet, Aizpiri, Krol, Martinet, Patrix etc. From 1955 onwards, Jean Thomas focused primarily on landscape painting, through a precise study of light and great pictorial mastery. His works bear witness to a trend: the realistic post-war landscapes. As a professional painter, he exhibited his works on numerous occasions, most notably at the Art Gallery of Place Beauvau and at the Tournelle Gallery in Paris. In total, he participated in over a hundred exhibitions in France and abroad.This painting was painted by Jean Thomas on the 20th of January 1993. Signed in the bottom left corner.

This rare antique Kukukuku (pronounced cookah-cookah) war club is from the remote highlands of Papua New Guinea. It features a head made of stone in the characteristic pineapple shape.These clubs are the most common type of club found in Papua New Guinea They come from throughout much of the country.The war clubs have a variety of different shaped stone heads and it is often the shape of the head that determines the value. Complex pineapple-shaped club heads are generally better than disk or ball-shaped stones.
