Biscuit bust of a girl. CHARLES LEVY & CO [PARIS PORCELAIN] (Charenton-le-Pont, Paris, France) - ca 1876 - 1881, last quarter of the 19th century. Depicts a romantic image, in a three-quarter spread, with an asymmetrical wreath of daisies and a picturesque braid on the shoulder. The gaze of gentle modesty is downcast and directed towards the flower, on a wide (riskily wide) neckline. The intrigue, between girlish rural modesty and potential flirtation, is spilled everywhere and is read in asymmetry: different-sized shoulders, a bow and a balancing braid, a classic ribbon and an impressionistic liberty of a wreath, a frontal order, and a profile artistic mess of a hairstyle. But the main subject of the work is the question - who will get this flower, on an almost untied dress? The idyll of rural life requires resolution in the erotic foreboding so skillfully noticed by the sculptor-impressionist. Height:47.5 cm.

19th Century Set of 6 Chairs from the Krieger House, Paris

We present you this beautiful set of six carved mahogany chairs crafted by the renowned La Maison Krieger in Paris. Each chair features its KRIEGER PARIS plaque on the back of the seat. This is a rare and comfortable model with a seat height of 53 centimetres. It dates from the late 19th to early 20th century.La Maison Krieger was established in 1826 by Antoine Krieger and his brother Nicolas, setting up shop at 17 Rue Saint-Nicolas in Paris. It began as a furniture manufacturer but soon expanded to include a prominent decoration service. During the 1920s and 1930s, their massive workshops in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine employed about a thousand people. The company initially gained recognition for its production of high-end items, including reproductions of 18th-century and Empire-style furniture, as well as creating exceptionally unique pieces, particularly for exhibitions. Their accomplishments included winning a Second-Class Medal in London in 1852.

We present you with this set of exquisite cassolettes from the Napoleon III period. Crafted from Pyrenean marble, specifically the Bénou Breccia kind, and enhanced with gilded bronze embellishments representing acanthus leaves and grape motifs, these cassolettes are not highly decorative thanks to the ornate nature of the marble and its accompanying decor, but they also showcase superb craftsmanship and gold detailing. They would make a perfect choice for adorning a mantelpiece alongside a clock or positioning on a dresser on either side of a bust. They belong to the late 19th-century period.
