CRIMEAN LANDSCAPE. STUDY RUSSIA, 1920s–1930s

Charming Crimean study capturing the vivid beauty of the southern coast on a hot summer day. The painting depicts a rocky shoreline washed by the sea, with a small house under a green roof and tall cypresses set against the backdrop of blue mountains. The artist skillfully employs plein-air techniques — free brushwork, vibrant colors, and the shimmering play of light and air. The windy day’s dynamics are expressed through the interplay of waves and clouds, while compositional harmony is achieved through the balance of diagonal lines of the shore and the verticals of trees. The contrast between deep ultramarine and violet hues of the sea and mountains and the sun-bleached yellowish-white tones of the rocks creates a distinctly Crimean color palette, characteristic of the Russian Impressionist school of the 1920s–1930s.Dimensions: 34 × 28 cm (canvas); framed 48 × 43 cm.Material: Oil on canvas.Condition: Good. Floor-standing mirror-console Jugendstil, early 20th century Germany. Alpha and Omega of spiritual and organic synthesis. This is exactly how this theme develops from the stylized A at the base of the console to the Omega at the top of the mirror. The shaped frame of the mirror, sprouting flowers, flows into the flanking cruciferous buds and ends with three colors in an angelic takeoff. Symbolic references to Christianity reflect the special status and role of man. He is the connecting rod of physical and spiritual beauty. He is a measure of time and a living organic embodiment of the spirit. Here in the mirror it becomes the connecting main element in the sacred primer of the universe.
