An elegant Russian rectangular cigarette case with softly rounded corners, crafted in 14-karat gold at the St Petersburg gold and diamond workshop of Beilin & Son. The exterior is decorated with a refined geometric pattern executed in two-tone gold in the Art Nouveau style, realised through exceptionally fine chasing. The rhythmic diagonal lines create a dynamic play of light and underline the high level of surface workmanship characteristic of the finest pre-Revolutionary St Petersburg jewellery. The push-button clasp is set with a natural cabochon-cut sapphire, harmoniously integrated into the overall artistic composition. Distinguished by flawless proportions, precise fitting of components and a pronounced status character, the piece is representative of objects intended for courtly and aristocratic circles.Hallmarks: Maker’s mark “A.B” in a rectangular cartouche – Beilin & Son, Gold and Diamond Factory, St Petersburg; Oval assay mark with a female head facing left, gold standard “56” and assay letter “a”, corresponding to the St Petersburg assay office, 1908–1917.Dimensions: Length 9.8 cm; Width 6.5 cm.Weight: 129 g.Condition: Good.Provenance: Private European collection.

A highly artistic silver table service produced in the workshop of Gustav Klingert, one of the leading Moscow silversmiths of the early 20th century. Crafted in 84-standard silver, the set represents a cohesive, full-weight ensemble of ceremonial tableware, intended for use in the representative interiors of the late Russian Empire.The forms of the pieces follow the classical tradition, with softly profiled contours, balanced proportions and carefully calculated ergonomics. The handles are adorned with relief ornamentation in the spirit of historicist Baroque: elegant vegetal scrolls, stylised foliage and rocaille motifs create a sense of sculptural depth and decorative completeness. The ornamentation remains refined and restrained, organically emphasising the structure of each piece, a hallmark of the finest Moscow silver of the pre-revolutionary period.The set is distinguished by a high standard of craftsmanship: precise detailing, careful chasing, even polishing and preserved silver weight testify to the professionalism of the workshop and its orientation towards a demanding clientele. PORCELAIN LADY’S BOX WITH MINIATURE IN THE LOUIS XVI STYLE FRANCE, LATE 18TH – FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

A refined round porcelain box intended for a lady’s personal use, executed in the elegant aesthetic of Late Classicism with pronounced features of the Louis XVI style. The body is made of fine porcelain and richly adorned with gilt bronze mounts applied over a deep cobalt-blue ground. The decorative programme is based on a symmetrical arrangement of floral garlands, stylised rosettes and ribbon bows, characteristic of French decorative art at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.The lid is centred with a painted miniature set within an oval medallion. It depicts an elegant young woman seated at a writing desk with a secrétaire. The gesture of her hand and her contemplative expression suggest a scene of composing or reflecting upon a love letter, a popular subject in genre miniature painting of the period. The palette is rendered in soft pastel tones, with delicate attention to costume and interior details. The artist’s signature is present but currently illegible.The inner side of the lid is fitted with a mirror, emphasising the utilitarian function of the object and its association with the intimate space of a lady’s boudoir. The interior is finished in plain white porcelain, creating a harmonious contrast with the richly decorated exterior. Combining functionality with high decorative value, this box represents a characteristic example of refined French taste of its time.Material: Porcelain, gilt bronze, glass (mirror), cobalt decoration.Dimensions: Height: 7 cm; Diameter: 16 cm.Condition: Good. Gilding well preserved with minor signs of age. Porcelain without cracks or restorations. The miniature is well preserved.Provenance: Private European collection.
