LIQUEUR CABINET (CAVE À LIQUEURS) IN GILT BRONZE AND CRYSTAL IN THE NAPOLEON III STYLE FRANCE, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY
A high-quality liqueur bar executed in the traditions of French decorative arts of the Napoleon III style. The structure is crafted in gilt bronze, richly adorned with finely chased relief decoration incorporating acanthus leaves, classical borders, and architecturally balanced profiles. The construction forms a glazed cage with beveled glass panels, creating a refined play of reflections and enhancing the decorative presence of the interior.The interior is fitted with a complete liqueur service, comprising four crystal decanters with stoppers and sixteen cut-crystal liqueur glasses in two different models, all executed in clear faceted crystal. A central gilt-bronze stand is designed to hold the glasses, forming a strict and harmonious symmetrical composition characteristic of ceremonial salon objects of the period. An elegant decorative model of a speedboat crafted from solid wood and fine veneers, combining light-toned woods with lacquered rosewood. The hull is defined by a refined, elongated profile characteristic of the 1930s, emphasizing movement and the streamlined aesthetic associated with transatlantic regattas and prestigious coastal resorts. The deck is inlaid with contrasting longitudinal wood strips forming a rhythmic geometric pattern typical of the Art Deco style.The cockpit interior is carefully detailed, featuring cream-toned upholstered seating, a steering wheel, a dashboard with miniature gauges, and a metal-framed windscreen. Decorative elements - cleats, rails, signal horn, propeller, and rudder - are executed in silver-plated metal, adding a refined brilliance and reinforcing the model’s collectible appeal.The model is presented on a blackened wooden base, enhancing its display character and ensuring stability. The object may be regarded as an interior sculptural piece, reflecting the cult of speed, luxury, and technological progress that defined the first half of the twentieth century.Dimensions: Height 13 cm; Length 71 cm (excluding base).Condition: Good. Minor signs of age and careful handling. Varnish well preserved; metal elements with light patina.Provenance: Private European collection.
