RUSSIAN SILVER SUGAR BOWL IN CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL RUSSIA, MOSCOW, 1896-1908

A silver egg-shaped sugar bowl raised on elegant leaf-shaped feet, fitted with a movable handle decorated with enamel ornament. The body is covered with an elaborate cloisonné enamel composition featuring a polychrome vegetal design arranged in rhythmic arched vertical panels rising from the base toward the rim. The palette includes rich tones of cobalt, azure, turquoise, white, and red set against a gilded ground of filigree and granulation. The upper rim is accented with a band of light blue enamel dots, emphasizing the completeness of the silhouette. The interior is gilded, creating a refined contrast with the multicolored enamel exterior and enhancing the decorative effect.The compositional structure and virtuoso execution attest to the high level of the Moscow jewelry school at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, oriented toward the revival of national artistic traditions in the spirit of the Russian Style.Hallmarks: Workshop mark “IGT” (unidentified master); assay mark of the Moscow District Assay Office, 1896-1908, with silver standard “84”; image of a female head in a kokoshnik facing left; initials “IL” for Ivan Lebedkin, head of the assay district appointed in 1899.Dimensions: Height: 17 cm; Width: 11 cm.Weight: 283 g.Condition: Good. MAJOLICA JARDINIÈRE IN THE FORM OF A BOAT WITH GRIFFINS

A majolica jardinière in the form of a decorative boat, executed in an expressive Historicist manner with elements of Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque design. The composition is conceived as a fantastical vessel with raised sides, crowned by sculptural figures of attacking griffins. Their elongated necks and open jaws lend the piece a sense of dynamism and theatricality characteristic of decorative arts at the turn of the century.The body is embellished with relief cartouches featuring ornamental and zoomorphic decoration in brown, cream and turquoise-blue tones. The sculptural modelling is accentuated by the contrast between the glossy glaze and the richly toned lilac-pink interior bowl. The piece is set upon a substantial metal base with bronze finish of complex profile, covered in a noble patina that enhances the monumentality of the composition and ensures visual stability.The combination of majolica and metal reflects a distinctive late 19th-century European tendency toward the synthesis of materials and decorative techniques.
