Oval coffee table in mahogany and gilded bronze in the Louis XVI style. Late nineteenth century based on the model of Adam Weisweiler. The table top has a shape close to an oval with four semicircular protrusions, to which figured elegant table legs with gilded mascarons are attached in the lower part. Bronze overlays and linear edging of the edge of the lid and its wooden sides (table waist) are made with high quality casting, embossing and gilding. The table top is decorated over the entire surface with a geometric marquetry pattern, which contrasts beautifully with the gilded edging of the table. The decor uses motifs traditional for the era of classicism, made in the antique spirit - ribbon and floral patterns, flower heads, cornucopia, figurines of lying rams, maiden heads. The table legs are completed at the bottom with bronze shoe-shaped plates with a relief foliage pattern. In the front part of the table (at the waist) there is a drawer lid. It, due to the decor, similar to the decor repeating the gilded bronze decor of other sides of the table waist, is carefully hidden. Material: wood, mahogany veneer, carving, polishing, bronze, casting, embossing, Dimensions: 99 x 64 x 72 cm.

LOUIS XV STYLE WRITING DESK FRANCE, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

An elegant double-sided writing desk in finely inlaid wood with rich gilt-bronze mounts, executed in the Louis XV style. The harmonious interplay of sinuous contours and architectural clarity creates a rare balance between representative grandeur and intimate refinement.The body is adorned with intricate parquetry featuring a geometric diamond pattern in precious woods of warm amber and chestnut tones. The façade is accentuated by powerful gilt-bronze mounts with Rocaille scrolls, cartouches and pierced elements. The central section is highlighted by a striking mascaron depicting a mythological face framed by a shell motif, lending the composition dynamism and theatrical presence.Gracefully curved cabriole legs terminate in gilt-bronze sabots and are enriched with vertical foliate mounts. The apron is framed by a profiled gilt-bronze edging that emphasizes the flowing outline of the top. The writing surface is fitted with an inset panel, providing a functional workspace. The desk features three drawers and is fully finished on both sides, allowing placement in the center of a room.This work reflects the defining characteristics of 19th-century French Historicism, reinterpreting Rococo aesthetics with particular emphasis on virtuoso bronze casting and refined marquetry craftsmanship.Dimensions: 77 x 133 x 78 cmCondition: Very good. BOULLE STYLE WRITING DESK FRANCE, 19TH CENTURY

A refined cabinet writing desk in the Boulle style, executed in the finest traditions of 19th century French historicism, combining black lacquer, brass inlay, gilded bronze mounts and leather. The composition is defined by the striking contrast between the deep black ground and the intricate marquetry panels, where engraved brass forms elaborate arabesques against a red-toned lacquered background.The rectangular top is fitted with a richly coloured red leather writing surface, framed by a gilt-tooled border, reinforcing the ceremonial character of the piece. The frieze is articulated with shaped cartouches adorned with scrolling foliage, framed by moulded gilt bronze mounts. The central section is highlighted by a sculptural mascaron set within a rocaille surround, forming a pronounced decorative focal point.The cabriole legs, inspired by the Louis XV vocabulary, terminate in finely cast gilt bronze sabots. The sides are further embellished with applied figural gilt bronze mounts of remarkable modelling and chiselled detail, demonstrating a high level of Parisian bronze craftsmanship.This desk embodies the aesthetic principles of the Boulle style, rooted in the legacy of André-Charles Boulle and revived during the 19th century, particularly under the Second Empire. Conceived for a grand cabinet interior, it would have served both as a functional writing table and as a statement of cultivated taste and social standing.Dimensions: Height: 85 cm; Width: 125 cm; Depth: 70 cm.Condition: Good. Professionally restored. Surfaces stabilised; marquetry and bronze mounts preserved.
