Central table in mahogany, ormolu and bois-satin parquet in the style of Louis XV, late 19th century, French attributed to François Linke, round tabletop shaped above a frieze, decorated with Bacchic masks, goats and scrolls of leaves, legs with rams head mounts and cast acanthus feet, diameter 92 cm, height 74 cm. Intriguing porcelain layer. Hortense RICHARD (1847-1900). Caster. By James Bertrand. With a certain irony, he paints a musical duet or a contest between Euterpe and a nightingale. The patroness of music, sitting naked, struggles to match the night singer. Although their efforts are multi-directional, a rather graceful, albeit contradictory duet is emerging. The elongated vertical format and color scheme subtly stylize the ancient designs of Rome. Signature of the author at the bottom right. On the back of the sheet and frame are the name and data of the author`s Parisian workshop. Reservoir dimensions: 32 x 11.5 cm.
