MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A LAPDOG GERMANY, MEISSEN, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY
An expressive, one-piece porcelain figure of a lapdog, created at the Meissen manufactory in the second half of the 19th century. The small decorative dog is portrayed seated on its hind legs, with a tilted head, large protruding eyes, and richly modelled curls of fur. The coloration in white and reddish-brown tones accentuates the realistic texture and volume. The figure bears a sentimental and almost portrait-like character, designed to adorn the intimate interiors of bourgeois homes. This sculpture belongs to Meissens classical animal genre, inspired by the traditions of Johann Joachim Kändler.Marks: Blue crossed swords underglaze (Meissen), impressed model number 2880 on the base, moulding marks and kiln vent hole.Dimensions: 23 × 29 × 12 cmCondition: In good condition. An exquisite silver ladle, made in the shape of a boat, is a magnificent example of decorative and applied art of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, created in the neo-Russian style. This artistic tradition combines elements of ancient Russian architecture and ornamentation, which is clearly evident in the design of the ladle. The inside of the ladle and the curved handle are decorated with an elegant floral ornament made using the cloisonné enamel technique. The central element of the composition is a double-headed eagle, the official symbol of the Russian Empire, skillfully decorated with turquoise enamel and framed by a refined gilded edging. The composition is complemented by a complex floral pattern made in rich and pastel shades, creating a harmonious balance and emphasizing the sophistication of the work. Hallmarks: The master`s name in Cyrillic letters NZ. Assay mark of Saint Petersburg with the image of the city coat of arms and the number 84, in an oval shield, corresponding to the last quarter of the 19th century. Dimensions: Length: 17 cm, Width: 9 cm, Height: 5 cm. Weight: 216 g.

An elegant rectangular silver snuff box, executed by the silversmith Ivan Savelyevich Britsyn for the firm of Joseph Abramovich Marshak in St Petersburg. The lid is decorated with deep blue guilloché enamel forming a radiating sunburst pattern, converging toward a central accent set with a diamond, interpreted as a symbolic representation of a luminary.The composition is further enhanced by finely executed laurel garlands in two-colour gold, emphasising the ceremonial and status-driven character of the object. The strict geometry of the form, combined with restrained ornamentation and the noble contrast of enamel and precious metals, reflects the aesthetics of late Imperial jewellery art at the turn of the 20th century. The sides are adorned with delicate guilloché engraving, creating a refined play of light. The interior is fully gilded, in keeping with the highest standards of manufacture for luxury silver objects of the period.Marks: Maker’s mark “I. MARSHAK” of the firm of Joseph Abramovich Marshak, St Petersburg; St Petersburg assay mark with silver fineness “88” and kokoshnik head; Master’s mark “I.B” corresponding to Ivan Savelyevich Britsyn.Dimensions: 7 × 3.7 × 1.5 cm.Weight: 150 g.Condition: Good collector’s condition.Provenance: Private collection.
