The goddess of discord Eris, offended by the fact that she was not invited to the wedding feast of Peleus and Thetis, decided to take revenge on the gods and threw an apple with the inscription Most Beautiful to the feasting. Immediately between the three goddesses: the wife of Zeus Hera, the warrior Athena and the goddess of love Aphrodite - a dispute arose: to whom rightly belongs the apple? The goddesses turned to Zeus, but he refused to be a judge. Zeus gave the apple to Hermes and ordered to take the goddesses in the vicinity of Troy to the beautiful son of the king of Troy, Paris, who must choose the most beautiful of the three goddesses. Each of them began to convince Paris to give the apple to her, promising the young man great rewards. Hera promised Paris power over all Asia, Athena - military victories and glory. Paris gave the apple to Aphrodite, who promised to reward him with the love of any woman he chose.

We present you this exquisite 18th-century coastal tableau that captures the collaborative efforts of both men and women weaving baskets along the shore while men prepare for a fishing expedition, all in the artistic manner reminiscent of Claude-Joseph Vernet (1714-1789). This work is believed to be by a follower or imitator of the artist. The backdrop of the painting is dominated by a massive early sailing ship. This artwork is elegantly enclosed within an 18th-century gilded wooden frame, and the overall dimensions, including the frame, are 97 cm in height in 85 cm in width.Claude-Joseph Vernet (1714-1789) was a French landscape and marine painter known for his remarkable depictions of coastal scenes and seascapes. He played a significant role in the development of the veduta genre, which specialised in panoramic views and landscapes. Vernet was particularly renowned for his marine paintings, characterised by their vivid portrayal of light, atmosphere, and the interplay of nature and human activity along the coast.

We present you this splendid pair of rare single-light, Louis XV Rocaille-style gilded wood wall sconces from the 18th century. They originate from Italy and are imbued with the essence of the Baroque era. The central part of these sconces has a leather feel, creating a captivating decorative effect. These sconces are a rare find in the market and have been electrified for modern use. While one of the sconces has undergone a small repair at the top left in the gilded wood rocaille sculpture, this imperfection is virtually invisible.
