An original silver hors d’oeuvre serving set by the Florentine silversmith Romano Passavinti. The composition takes the form of a miniature golf bag mounted on a two-wheeled trolley with an elongated handle and support.
The bag contains removable serving picks, each modelled as a miniature golf club. The club heads are individually differentiated and detailed with engraved and relief decoration imitating the surfaces of actual golfing equipment.
The elongated golf bag is ornamented with finely worked relief borders and decorative elements reproducing the straps and structural details of a golf bag. The openwork spoked wheels, tubular trolley frame, supporting leg and extended handle lend the composition a sense of lightness and emphasise its character as a finely executed silver miniature.
The set combines the practical function of a serving accessory with an imaginative decorative conception and belongs to the tradition of so-called novelty silver objects, silver objects reproducing in miniature recognisable items associated with everyday life, sport and leisure.
