Provenance: Received as a gift in 1953 in honor of the opening of the metro station from the People’s Commissar of Railways Lev Moiseevich Kaganovich, the head of the metro construction site. The gift was presented in the Kremlin.
History reference:
Kaganovich Lev Moiseevich was appointed on February 28, 1935 by Stalin to the post of Peoples Commissar of Railways, while maintaining his position as Secretary of the Central Committee.
In the period from 1935 to 1955, the metropolitan subway was named after Lazar Kaganovich - the People’s Commissar of Railways, who also led the preparation of the General Plan for the reconstruction of Moscow.
