Antique 20th Century Cartier Art Deco 9 Carat gold extremely large compact, of rectangular form, inside bearing various open and closed compartments and a retracting lipstick, the top lid mounted with a sliding push-button, set with brilliant cut diamonds and square cut sapphires, all sides are engraved with reeded design, remnant of the period. The inside of the cover is set with a mirror and comes with its original, but rather worn Cartier gift case.
Hallmarked English 9k gold (375 standard), London, year 1936 (A), J.C (Jacques Cartier, Mansfield st, London). The compact comes from the collection of Beatrice Sigrist, (Lady Ormerod of aristocratic White Russian descent, the mother of Princess Fredericka Ann Guirey)
