Stylizes French motifs of 16th century clothing, repeating the balls of quilted sleeves and graceful waists of 16th century collars. The two-piece, slotted handle artfully complements the businesslike loftiness of the style. This is echoed by the pattern of garlands and a laurel wreath on the neck and base of the jug. French hallmarks of 925 sterling silver: Minerva in the Octagon - on all parts of the product. Diamond-shaped craftsmans marks on the neck and lid. On the base there is the letter mark A.Aucoc. Andre Aucoc, the famous French Parisian jeweler, was part of the Aucoc company, founded in 1821. Andre Aukok received a gold medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition and then first prize at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. At the same time he was awarded the Order of the Legion of Honor.
