Alexey Petrovich Bogolyubov 1824-1896 View of Palermo. 1850s. years. It represents an arcuate landscape with a view of the stone buildings of Palermo and the surrounding mountains, among which Monte Pelegrino stands out in the evening light. On the right, fishing boats return from their daily fishing, filling the piers with sails. On the left, seaside bustle near the balustrade and the column of the plywood pole. Here the compositional core forms a triangle: nearby fishermen in white and with red caps, ladies with a baby on the shore and a merchant, it seems like watermelons, at the foot of the column. All of them bring a genre, documentary flavor of original southern life. To the left on the stone is a dark gray inscription Palermo. To the right is a dark purple signature - Bogolyubov. Oil on canvas: 53.2x82 cm. It is likely that the work was created between 1854-58, when the artist, traveling in Italy, lived for a long time in the south and spent some time in Palermo. The work is accompanied by an examination of the State Art Museum of Latvia in 2003.
