A splendid pair of large Louis XVI style cassolettes in light brown marble with white veining from the Napoleon III period. Rare for their size (56 cm high), they are also well-balanced thanks to the harmonious combination of ochre with white marble and the fine gilding of the bronze. They are decorated with putti en terme ending in an acanthus leaf. In their hands, the putti hold garlands of very fine roses that encircle the cassolettes. The lids are removable and the handles are seed-shaped.The bases are finished with gilded brass pedestals to protect the marble and the support that will hold the pieces, a further sign of quality.Ideal for decorating a chest of drawers or mantelpiece.
