An elegant silver vase-casket fashioned in the form of a softly gathered drawstring pouch. The sculpturally modelled body, with its rounded folds, creates a convincing illusion of supple fabric and displays the expressive silhouette characteristic of the Russian Art Nouveau movement.
The neck of the vessel appears cinched by a loosely tied ribbon. A finely sculpted rose with foliage is skilfully interwoven into the bow, its naturalistic modelling contrasting beautifully with the smooth surface of the body. The asymmetrical arrangement of the floral ornament, the flowing contours and the sense of movement lend the object exceptional decorative vitality.
The evocative image of a ribbon-tied pouch combines practical function with the artistic imagination of Moscow silversmiths of the early twentieth century. The piece was intended for use as a small bonbonnière, a tabletop container, or a decorative casket for storing small personal objects.

Hallmarks: Fully struck maker`s mark of the Orest Kurlyukov Factory, Moscow State Assay Office hallmark for the period 1899–1908, and the 84 silver standard mark.
