MAGNIFICENT LADY’S TABLE WITH PORCELAIN PANELS IN THE MANNER OF ADAM WEISWEILER FRANCE, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY

A distinguished lady’s table of the Napoleon III period, created in France in the second half of the 19th century in the refined manner of the celebrated master Adam Weisweiler (1746-1820). The rectangular structure with characteristic corner projections, slender fluted legs and elegant arched stretchers reflects the traditions of late Classicism reinterpreted through the opulent aesthetics of the Second Empire.

The principal highlight of the piece is its rare porcelain top measuring 35 x 58 cm, almost entirely covering the upper surface of the table. Executed in the style of the Royal Sèvres Manufactory, it features a large gallant pastoral scene: shepherdesses and a shepherd by a spring against a lakeside landscape, painted in delicate polychrome. A mesh ornament with miniature flowers and round medallions depicting allegories of love complete the decorative ensemble.

The frieze is adorned with porcelain panels depicting multi-figure scenes of promenades and amorous conversations in the spirit of 18th century French painters. The side panels feature elongated floral compositions. The gilt bronze mounts - acanthus leaves, laurel wreaths, beads and guilloché elements - unify the structure into a harmonious artistic whole.

A concealed secret lock is fitted inside the drawer, a characteristic feature of elegant furniture designed for ladies’ boudoirs. The table represents a rare synthesis of Classical precision and Rococo charm, forming a distinguished element of an aristocratic interior.
