An elegant French silver case, crafted in the 1880s, representing a refined example of late Historicist goldsmithing. The body is executed in 800 standard silver and finely engraved with a repeating geometric pattern characteristic of French silverwork from the final quarter of the nineteenth century. A finely executed gold appliqué provides a striking decorative accent, creating a harmonious contrast with the silver surface while enhancing the object`s graceful proportions.
The lid is centred with an oval medallion depicting a repoussé flaming heart pierced by an arrow and framed by scrolling foliate ornament.
