This exquisite Russian gold pendant with diamonds, created at the turn of the twentieth century, is a refined example of Art Nouveau jewellery. The composition is distinguished by its graceful sculptural modelling and flowing organic lines, hallmarks of the Art Nouveau aesthetic, where ornament and structure merge into a harmonious artistic whole.
The openwork silhouette is composed of elegant, sinuous lines inspired by stylised floral and vegetal forms. At its centre, the composition is richly adorned with natural old-cut and rose-cut diamonds with an approximate combined weight of 1.50 carats. Their delicate brilliance enhances the airy character of the design without overwhelming its refined proportions and lyrical elegance. The harmonious combination of finely crafted goldwork, subtle asymmetry and naturalistic motifs makes this pendant an outstanding expression of Russian Art Nouveau jewellery.
The pendant is accompanied by its original gold chain, executed in the same artistic style. Owing to its excellent state of preservation, exceptional craftsmanship and authentic pre-Revolutionary Russian hallmarks, the jewel possesses considerable historical and collectors significance.
