85. Russian silver and crystal vase, Ignatiy Sazikov firm, St. Petersburg, 1870

A luxurious large fruit vase, made by the famous firm of Ignatiy Sazikov, supplier to the imperial court, in 1870. The vase is a harmonious combination of an exquisite silver body and a crystal bowl, emphasizing the highest level of craftsmanship of jewelers of the second half of the 19th century.The body of the vase is decorated with naturalistic ornaments in the neo-Rococo style, including curved acanthus leaves and ornate elements symbolizing lightness and elegance. The product is installed on a pedestal with an openwork perforated pattern with four elegantly designed legs, giving the massive composition visual lightness and sophistication.The upper part of the vase is an oval-shaped crystal bowl, made with spiral edges, typical of the products of the Imperial Glass Factory. This creates a spectacular play of light and reflections, emphasizing the transparency and purity of the crystal. The bowl is securely fixed on a silver base, decorated with gilding and cartouches with elegant engraving.The massive handles are made in the form of sculptural acanthus leaves, gracefully curved along the entire composition. The central part of the product is decorated with a large silver shield with engraved symbols, probably of a heraldic nature.Hallmarks:Full hallmark of the company - a double-headed imperial eagle, the Cyrillic letters Sazikov, the assay mark of the city of St. Petersburg from 1870, with the initials A.M. indicating the master Alexander Mitin (1842-1877), the numbers 84, corresponding to the silver standard, as well as the city sign of St. Petersburg.Dimensions: 45 cm.Weight: 1265 g.
