The genre scene "Cossacks" in a frame under glass depicting a general and two Cossacks against the backdrop of the landscape. Watercolor is probably a sketch of a book illustration. The depicted general is supposedly the famous general Platov, who lost an ear in battle, commander of a Cossack regiment, part of the Russian occupation forces in Paris in 1814. This topic of the Cossacks M.V. Dobuzhinsky developed in detail for many years, in particular during the design of the play "The Cossacks of Platov in Paris" (Paris, autumn 1926).
In the lower right corner is the authors monogram letter "M" in the center of the date 1915.
