Cornelis Mahu (1613-16 November 1689) Flemish painter, author of still lifes, genre paintings and sea landscapes.
The author shows a very high level of skill in his composition, conveying to people the message about Vanitas (the futility of being, vanity) so characteristic of northern European still lifes of that time. Since 1638, the owner of the famous Guild of St. Luke. He trained many young artists, including the prominent Flemish painter Gaspar Peeter Verbruggen.
