A miniature silver figure depicting a Polish nobleman in traditional national costume. The character is represented in a characteristic pose with expressive modelling. He is dressed in a long kontusz secured with a broad sash, loose trousers and high boots, and wears a fur hat. In one hand, the figure holds a sabre, emphasising its historical and ethnographic character and its association with the military traditions of the Polish nobility.
The modelling is distinguished by the careful rendering of the costume, folds of fabric, footwear and facial features. The composition follows the tradition of European cabinet sculpture of the 20th century, combining decorative expressiveness with refined silversmithing and casting. Such silver miniatures were produced as collectible objects, commemorative souvenirs and presentation pieces celebrating the national history and culture of Poland.
Hallmarks: Partially legible maker’s mark and the assay mark “13” are present on the reverse, in the area of the trousers and footwear. The latter corresponds to the Polish lot-based silver standard.
