A great example of classic aesthetics. Graceful and majestic marble sculpture Bathing of Venus. 19th century. Italy. The textbook iconography goes back to the Roman model of the same name from the 2nd century BC. Venus was the guiding star and muse of the masters of French and Italian classicism of the 17th-19th centuries. Demonstrates the graceful plasticity of the Goddess, crouching and drawing water from a sacred spring. Multidirectional movements of the hands and head, focus on the look, as if containing a question about the nature of the divine. A look turned into a source of water or a reflection, as if contemplating not the material substance of water, but something living, mysterious and eternal. The abandoned jug only reinforces the metaphysics of questioning. Impeccable plasticity, proportions, workmanship of details - they betray the hand of an outstanding master, who, unfortunately, has remained unknown for centuries. Figure dimensions: 66x25x35 cm. Console dimensions: 124.5x40x40 cm. Total weight is about 100 kg.
