The elongated proportions, verticalism and picturesqueness of the decoration, the curves of the handles and the general composition of the decor are still fully modern. But the geometrism of the triangular decor (the pyramids on the back) and the concise silhouette of the pens herald the advent of Art Deco. The vase demonstrates a synthetic fusion of styles. The transition of Art Nouveau to Art Deco took place during the World War and in the years preceding the exhibition of decorative and applied art in 1925 in Paris, where the new Art Deco style was proclaimed.
