Asters. One of the best examples of the mature creativity of the Rouen lyricist of autumn bouquets and river porters Louis Emile Mile 1847-1923. The vibrating atmosphere of an autumn bouquet, moving half-light, together with the magnificent plasticity of the frame, represents a solid and harmonious art object of high artistic pleasure. This gentle and beautiful still life with a shadow of autumn sadness presents a picturesque collection of asters and dahlias placed in the glass of a transparent vase. A smart and life-affirming light of hope embraces the light buds touched with pink, purple and yellow tones. Where, paradoxically, on the periphery, in the shade, the most active color relationships of red and yellow dahlias remain. Even fallen asters do not interfere with this radiant magic of life. Their freshness ignores the symbolism of the temporality of existence and passing youth, leaving the picture only a shadow of light sadness. The depth of philosophical feelings is supported by the diagonal of the background, where a picturesque and wise connection of light and shadow reigns. The authors dedicatory note sounds like a living, quivering beating of life: à Madame Anvey Hommage de lamour (Madame Anvey in memory of love). Which immerses you in an atmosphere of reflection about the destinies, love and feelings of people of the more distant past, expressed by the inspired brush of Louis Emile Millet. The authors signature and deed of gift are in the lower right corner of the picture. The date is 1890 at the bottom left. Painting size: 48 x 39 cm. With frame: 72x63 cm.
