The central compositions depict a ceremonial encounter between mounted knights accompanied by standard-bearers, soldiers, and courtly figures set against a backdrop of fortified walls and castle architecture. Rendered in bold high relief, the scenes display meticulous attention to armour, costume, horse tack, and architectural detail.

The broad borders are richly adorned with scrolling rocaille ornament, acanthus foliage, and decorative cartouches, executed through finely chased work and enhanced by subtle oxidation that accentuates the depth and sculptural quality of the relief. Distinguished by their refined craftsmanship and characteristic Historicist fascination with the romanticised past, these trays combine decorative grandeur with masterful silversmithing. They represent a fine example of 20th-century Spanish silverwork inspired by the artistic styles and historical narratives of earlier eras.

Marks: Control marks in the form of human profile heads, presumed to belong to the Spanish silver hallmarking system of the 20th century, together with a poorly legible maker’s monogram, possibly reading “AF” or “FF”.
