Heinrich Baensch

Porcelain factory Heinrich Baensch (1858-1990). The company was founded by entrepreneur Ferdinand Baensch in 1840. In 1858, Ferdinand′s son, Henry Baensch (1830-1911), begins mass production of porcelain at the Heinrich Baensch porcelain factory. In the following years, the manufactory increased its production of porcelain and became known throughout Germany and abroad. The range of the company included table china, as well as collectible and commemorative china. The company was especially recognized for its recognizable design in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. In 1911, after the death of Heinrich, the plant was run by his son Alfred Baensch (1873-1942).As a result of the global crisis in the 1930s, the company filed for bankruptcy, thus ending its multi-year triumph in Germany. In the following years, the manufactory continues its activities, changing its owners many times. After 1945, the company was nationalized, and since 1953 it has been producing its products under the brand name of the VEB Lettin Halle / Saale porcelain factory in East Germany. In 1990, the production of Heinrich Baensch porcelain was completely discontinued.
