An elegant pair of decorative transparent glass vases executed in the Art Nouveau style. The cylindrical bodies are embellished with an exquisite composition of blooming irises, rendered in gilding and finely executed polychrome enamel decoration. The bases are mounted with expressive cast gilt-metal appliqués of flowing organic form, characteristic of the Art Nouveau aesthetic, lending the pieces sculptural presence while enhancing their decorative appeal.
The harmonious combination of clear glass, matte gilding and delicate enamel painting reflects the artistic achievements of European glass workshops at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, when craftsmen sought to unite naturalistic motifs with refined decorative design. Intended for intimate interior settings, these vases represent a characteristic example of artistic glass produced during the late Art Nouveau period.
