An elegant silver salt cellar, made in the shape of a throne, is an outstanding example of Russian decorative and applied art of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. Rich ornamentation with a predominance of plant motifs gives the product sophistication and elegance. The central composition is decorated with a scene with two birds gracefully sitting on the branches of a tree of paradise, which symbolizes harmony and well-being. Materials and technique: Silver of 84 assay value, gilding, engraving, graver drawing. Hallmarks: Silversmith`s hallmark in Cyrillic M.G. – Mikhail Goloshchanov, active from 1883 to 1912. The hallmark of the Moscow District Assay Office of the period 1899-1908 with the initials of the district manager Ivan Sergeevich Lebedkin, the numbers 84 confirming the silver standard, the hallmark of the coat of arms of the city of Moscow.
