RUSSIAN SILVER SALT THRONE WITH CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL, NIKIFOR ALEKSEEV, MOSCOW, 1899–1908

An exquisite Russian silver salt throne, crafted in Moscow between 1899 and 1908 by the renowned silversmith Nikifor Alekseev. The piece is adorned with vibrant Pan-Slavic motifs executed in cloisonné enamel, where traditional geometric and floral designs are interwoven in a delicate harmony of color and form. The throne-like proportions and architectural elements of the salt cellar emphasize the symbolic importance of salt as a sign of hospitality and prosperity in Russian culture.

Marks: Moscow assay mark for 88 standard with kokoshnik and assay master’s initials “IL” (Ivan Lebedkin) (1899–1908); maker’s mark “НА” (Nikifor Alekseev) in Cyrillic.
