Portrait of the Russian Emperor Alexander III, by Sergei Konstantinovich Zaryanko. Probably the author`s repetition of the portrait of the young tsar made in 1865 by order of the royal family. The composition presents a ceremonial portrait with elements of psychological characteristics. From a calm gesture, a three-quarter turn of the body in a ceremonial uniform breathes with power, strength and confidence of a person who knows life and purpose. Physical strength and clarity of spirit are devoid of posturing and bragging. The pure face of a direct, decisive and clearly thinking person, full of life, dominates the conventions of the ceremonial performance. The living, brilliant and delicate painting of the master plunges us into the reality of the real Russian character and reveals the stages of the formation of a great historical personality.
