An elegant porcelain plaque depicting Peter I mounted on a rearing white horse, executed in Europe during the 19th century. The composition derives from the celebrated iconography of the equestrian portrait of Peter the Great created by Johann Gottfried Tannauer in the first quarter of the 18th century, while representing an independent decorative interpretation characteristic of European Historicism.

The Emperor is portrayed wearing a tricorne hat, a blue military uniform and a sword, with the sash of an order draped across his shoulder. The ceremonial character of the portrait is emphasised by the dignified posture of the rider and the dynamic figure of the rearing white horse. The horse`s harness bears a heraldic device of European origin, indicating that the work was produced outside the Russian Empire and intended for the Western European market.

The painting displays exceptional artistic refinement. Delicate tonal transitions, atmospheric landscape modelling and finely rendered details demonstrate the accomplished skill of the porcelain painter. The palette reflects the romantic sensibility of 19th century painting, enriched by the decorative influence of the Second Rococo style, which enjoyed widespread popularity throughout European decorative arts.

The porcelain plaque is mounted within a decorative wooden frame fitted with a moulded gilt inner slip, enhancing the composition while reinforcing its refined collector`s appeal.
