The painting Lady with a Fan is an expressive decorative composition executed in the spirit of Cubism and inspired by the artistic experiments of Alexander Porfyrovych Archipenko (1887–1964).

At the centre of the composition is an elegant female figure holding a fan and wearing a hat, depicted against a stylised urban background. The image is constructed through the geometrisation of form, an expressive silhouette and the decorative interaction of colour planes, characteristic of avant-garde art of the first half of the 20th century.

The artist combines the recognisability of the figurative image with the principles of Cubist construction, where lines and volumes acquire an independent artistic significance. The diagonal rays passing through the composition create the impression of evening light, symbolising the approach of twilight and the atmosphere of sunset hours.

The stylistic character of the work reflects the influence of Alexander Archipenko’s plastic language, based on the search for harmony between form, rhythm and decorative expressiveness.
