An elegant French silver tea service for twelve, crafted in France during the late nineteenth century in 800 standard silver. Executed in the Louis XV style, the ensemble is distinguished by refined Rococo curves, graceful silhouettes and finely executed decorative details characteristic of the finest French silversmiths of the Historicist period.
The service comprises twelve teaspoons, a pair of sugar tongs, a tea strainer and a small serving spoon with a shell-shaped bowl. Each piece is enriched with delicate engraved decoration, while selected elements retain their original gilding. Of particular importance is the original lockable presentation case, executed in the Boulle technique in ebonised wood with brass and tortoiseshell marquetry, enhanced by blue enamel decoration on the hinged lid. The complete preservation of both the service and its original fitted case makes this an exceptional example of French decorative silver, intended for formal tea service and prestigious presentation.
