A finely carved elephant figure executed in the style of Fabergé from bloodstone (heliotrope), dating to the 20th century. The compact sculpture is conceived as a near-spherical volume, distinguished by its expressive silhouette with the trunk gracefully curled against the body. Carefully rendered skin folds, the highly polished stone surface, and cabochon ruby eyes lend the composition a refined decorative character. The richly variegated bloodstone, with its distinctive crimson inclusions, ensures that each example is inherently unique. The work continues the traditions of the Russian hardstone carving school inspired by the celebrated creations of the House of Fabergé, where the artistic qualities of ornamental stone and the expressive modelling of animal subjects were of paramount importance.
