A pair of elegant oval portrait miniatures depicting King Louis XV of France and Madame de Pompadour, executed in the tradition of French court portrait miniatures of the Rococo period. The figures are represented in a refined aristocratic manner, with particular attention given to costume details and the delicate quality of the painted execution.
The miniatures are painted on bone, protected under glass and mounted in richly decorated oval openwork brass frames embellished with floral ornamentation and rocaille motifs characteristic of the Louis XV style.
