An elegant set of six French silver gilt teaspoons executed in the Louis XVI style at the turn of the twentieth century. The ensemble is a refined example of French decorative silver from the Historicist period, when master silversmiths reinterpreted the neoclassical vocabulary of the eighteenth century with exceptional craftsmanship and precision.
The spoons display graceful proportions and finely balanced silhouettes. Their handles are ornamented with oval medallions framed by beaded borders and delicate foliate decoration characteristic of the Louis XVI style. The richly gilded bowls lend a warm, luminous appearance while protecting the silver surface, enhancing both their aesthetic refinement and practical function.
Of particular importance is the original fitted case crafted in the Boulle style from ebonised wood. The lid is decorated with intricate marquetry incorporating gilt brass, simulated tortoiseshell and finely executed ornamental inlay. The interior is lined with silk and velvet, providing secure preservation of the set. The lock retains its original working key.
Combining the finest traditions of French silversmithing with the decorative elegance of the Belle Époque, this complete service represents a distinguished addition to collections of European silver and refined tableware.
