A magnificent Russian presentation silver punch set, produced in 1895 by the Moscow factory of Adrian Terentyevich Ivanov. The ensemble comprises a punch bowl, a raised tray on shaped feet, five beakers and a ladle, forming a rare and remarkably well-preserved ceremonial service representing the finest traditions of late nineteenth-century Russian silver.
Executed as a unified artistic ensemble, each element is lavishly decorated with exceptionally fine engraved ornament featuring scrolling foliate motifs framed by geometric border medallions. The interiors of the bowl, beakers and ladle are fire-gilded, creating a refined contrast with the polished silver while providing protection against oxidation during use.
The service belongs to the distinguished category of presentation punch sets created for ceremonial receptions, official occasions and prestigious commemorative gifts. The exceptional quality of chasing, engraving and finishing reflects the outstanding craftsmanship of Moscow silversmiths during the final quarter of the nineteenth century and embodies the defining characteristics of the Russian Revival style, which reinterpreted traditional Russian decorative vocabulary through sophisticated artistic craftsmanship.
