An exceptional French Cave à liqueur, created during the third quarter of the nineteenth century by the celebrated Parisian luxury house TAHAN, this refined carriage liquor cabinet is an outstanding example of decorative arts from the Napoleon III period. The case is crafted in wood and richly embellished with Boulle marquetry, combining brass and tortoiseshell in the manner of André Charles Boulle, a technique synonymous with the finest Parisian cabinetmaking workshops of the Historicist era.
The meticulously designed interior reflects both elegance and functionality. The cabinet retains its removable gilt fitted cradle accommodating four original decanters for spirits. Each decanter is executed in clear glass and enriched with finely hand gilt decoration featuring floral motifs and star patterns. Completing the ensemble are sixteen faceted liqueur glasses, decorated en suite with the decanters, creating a remarkably harmonious presentation.
