An impressive pressed glass fruit bowl executed in the Art Deco style. The shallow oval bowl rests on a circular foot and is framed by a broad openwork rim composed of rhythmically repeated petal-shaped elements enriched with finely moulded relief decoration. The crisp geometry of the silhouette is harmoniously balanced by the decorative modelling characteristic of the period, creating a striking interplay of light across the transparent glass surface.
The design exemplifies the ambition of European artistic glass production during the 1920s and 1930s to unite practicality with refined decorative aesthetics. Its generous scale and elegant silhouette allowed the piece to serve equally as a fruit bowl and as a sophisticated decorative centrepiece. Comparable examples were produced by leading European glassworks specialising in high-quality pressed art glass during the Art Deco period.
