ROSEWOOD LIQUEUR CABINET WITH MOTHER-OF-PEARL MARQUETRY. FRANCE. TURN OF THE 20TH CENTURY

A luxurious rosewood liqueur cabinet, crafted in France at the turn of the 20th century. This elegant piece is an outstanding example of Belle Époque cabinet furniture, combining the traditions of French Neoclassicism with the finest cabinetmaking, refined marquetry craftsmanship, and the sophisticated ritual of serving fine spirits.

The case is constructed from richly figured rosewood and embellished with delicate mother-of-pearl marquetry, enhancing both the noble character of the timber and the harmonious symmetry of the design. Glazed side panels and a glazed upper lid transform the cabinet into an elegant display case, allowing the refined interior to remain visible even when closed.

The hinged lid and fall-front panel reveal a meticulously arranged interior centred around an ornate gilt-metal stand designed to accommodate the decanters and glasses. The cabinet retains its complete original service, comprising four finely cut glass decanters engraved with graceful vine motifs and sixteen elegant liqueur glasses executed in the manner of Baccarat, unsigned. The harmonious combination of decorative glass, precious timber and gilt metal creates an ensemble of remarkable refinement and decorative appeal.

Cabinets of this type were intended for aristocratic residences and distinguished gentlemen`s studies, serving not only as practical furnishings but also as symbols of cultivated taste, social distinction and the refined European culture of hospitality during the closing decades of the nineteenth century.

Marks: No visible marks to the cabinet. The liqueur glasses are executed in the manner of Baccarat and are unsigned.
